A 60-meter-long Miao embroidery has been finished as scheduled, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.
Huayuan Miao Embroidery was approved by the State Council to be listed among the first batch of the national intangible cultural heritages in 2006. This embroidery, themed “Splendid Xiangxi”, is 1.2 meters in width. It features sixty various patterns, such as flowers, birds, fish, butterflies, and Chinese dragon and phoenix, indicating the blessings for unity, fortune, and prosperity.
This embroidery was initiated and planned by the Huayuan County Bureau of Ethnic, Religious, Tourism, Cultural, Radio, Film and Television, and Press and Publication Affairs. The Shibadong Village Miao Agricultural Product Processing Cooperative undertook the job.
Started on April 22, 60 embroiders organized by the Cooperative engaged in embroidering for more than 80 days.
It will be displayed at the founding anniversary celebrations in late September.
