The 2017 Chinese Cultural Summer Camp in Yokohama opened at Yokohama Yamate Chinese School on July 23. It is hosted by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and organized by the Hunan Foreign Affairs (Overseas Chinese Affairs) Office and the Yokohama Yamate Chinese School.
Consul General of China in Japan Wang Jun, Hunan Foreign Affairs Office Consultant Guo Yufeng, and Yokohama Yamate Chinese School President Zhang Yansong presented a flag to the participants.
This Chinese Cultural Summer (Winter) Camp is a cultural program initiated by the State Council in 2011. Outstanding Chinese teachers are dispatched to give Chinese language, Chinese martial arts, folk music, calligraphy, painting, and traditional handicraft courses abroad. The event aims to deepen overseas Chinese youth’s understanding of Chinese culture, and arose their enthusiasm for studying Chinese language and culture.
