The UK Week in Hunan opened in Changsha on July 4, 2017. It will present more than 10 activities focusing on culture, tourism, education, and business affairs, to showcase the openness and creativity of the UK.
The Great British Beer Festival, Britain-themed exhibition, British culture exchange activity, and UK visa services promotion will be organized. The British Princess Anne will make her first visit to Hunan during the UK Week.
A British culture exchange activity will be held on July 6. Representatives from the British Consulate General in Guangzhou, the Queen Mary University of London, and the UK Visas and Immigration will share British culture, education and visa services, presenting authentic British style to the citizens.
The British Consulate General in Guangzhou and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Subtropical Agriculture will host “China-UK Newton Fund Winner Symposium (Southern China region)” in Changsha on July 8. The symposium will provide an opportunity for the winners to exchange ideas about China-UK scientific research cooperation.
Deputy Consul General Karen Maddocks noted that the UK Week events are in celebration of the 45th anniversary of China-UK ambassadorial diplomatic relations, and will cement partnership between Hunan and the UK. “We hope Hunan will recognize that the UK is one of Hunan’s best global partners, and the communication and cooperation between the two sides will be strengthened.” Karen added.
