On Dec. 28, 2016, Xiangtan City promoted its tourism resources to representatives of travel agencies nationwide, who came to attend the Fifth Representative Assembly of the China Association of Travel Services. Vice Governor of Hunan Province He Baoxiang, and Member of the Party Group of China National Tourism Administration and Deputy Director Wang Xiaofeng attended the meeting.
In the coming future, priorities will be given to the building of “three mountains, two waters, and one bay” in Xiangtan (i.e. three mountains: Shaoshan, Zhaoshan, and Yinshan Mountain; two waters: Xiangjiang River, and Shaoshan Irrigation Area and Shuifu Temple; one bay: Yaowan Bay), based on the general idea of “promoting red tourism, creating cultural image, and leading ecological development”, Mayor Tan Wensheng introduced, adding that the city, as the hometown of Chairman Mao Zedong, will be built into a national tourism demonstration city and a world-famous red tourism destination.
“Promoting red tourism”: five billion yuan has been invested in the grand live-action performances of “Most Memorable Shaoshanchong”, which will be put on the stage on Dec. 26, 2018 in Shaoshan. Taking Shaoshan as the leading tourism feature, related red tourism resources will be integrated including the Dongshan Mountain of Xiangxiang, and the former residence of Marshal Peng Dehuai in Wushi Township, Xiangtan County, and better travel routes and rich products will then be planned.
“Creating cultural image”: Yaowan historical and cultural community, Wanlou Pavilion, Guanshan Gate, and Luban Temple will be developed as a whole to promote the establishment of a 5A-class tourist attraction, the “No. 1 bay of the Xiangjiang River”.
“Developing industrial tourism to achieve ecological progress”: Xiangtan has a number of nationally renowned industrial enterprises founded in the early days of the founding of new China. Visitors may have a chance to see how the steel is made or observe the producing process of a complete vehicle, and experience the vitality of intelligent manufacturing.
